I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

This is how far you have to scroll on the NYTimes homepage to get any coverage of what's going on day-to-day in an occupied American city where schools are closing because the government is checking the papers of all brown or Asian people then brutalizing, imprisoning or killing them.

One pretty foolproof way to know your government is fascist is when your government tries to punish you for calling it fascist.

I am just going to keep posting that the TX governor recently pardoned a political murderer.

The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial.

Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.
Gov. Greg Abbott pardons Daniel Perry, veteran who killed police brutality protester in 2020
A Travis County jury sentenced Perry to 25 years in prison last year, prompting Abbott to ask the state parole board to review his case.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk makes we worry we can no longer have peaceful discussions of whether gays should be stoned to death or civil and collegial debates about whether black people are inherently inferior. Our culture will suffer.

the side that calls for, glorifies, & literally pardons it

Which work? Calling for gay people to be stoned to death? Blaming airplane crashes on black pilots? Anti-vax bullshit? Election denialism? Pushing Great Replacement Theory?

Kirk’s murder is awful and ominous for this country. But no, we don’t need to honor him or “continue his work.”

I haven't memed myself into believing this literally, but I do literally believe that Trump is a divine test that a lot of people are failing. If you can't bring yourself to oppose him, or worse, actively support him and cheer him on, it's a big mark against you on Judgment Day
“Donald Trump is literally the Antichrist but American evangelicals vote for him en masse” would be uh worryingly on point.

It's true, #PrehistoricPlanet Ice Age is coming to #AppleTV for November 2025. These images show how good our animals are, but... believe me, this barely scratches the surface!! It has been a massive thrill and privilege to help bring this series together... you're in for an incredible treat.

you also have the laganum, which is (at some points) a pancake-ish kinda dough snack. slather on a "salsa" of garlic, onions, olives, and vinegar. pile on some roasted lamb or pork and caramelized onions, with some parsley or cilantro. chickpeas sub for beans. artichoke hearts, too

I always thought the most soul-crushingly depressing part of Monty Python's The Meaning of Life was when they go to heaven and are greeted by a tacky Vegas-style show. This makes me feel the way I felt when I read Mark Twain's The Mysterious Stranger. Nihilism is more hopeful than this

Not an original observation, but there's a lot of *really good* vampire movies, including some real pillars of great cinema, and a huge number of perfectly enjoyable ok vampire movies. But there's only a handful of really good werewolf movies, if that, and beyond those quality drops dramatically

I have been sick for over two weeks now, first with a very bad cold which was followed by bronchitis that hasn't cleared up yet, so I haven't seen the new Nosferatu yet. But I rewatched the original, which was of course fantastic, and now I'm watching Herzog's version, which is incredibly beautiful
