I'm curious what folks think about approaching rules as expressive of theme. It seems like one needn't necessarily come first - perhaps you're creating rules to support theme, sometimes you're building a story to contain a rule - but it does feel important to me that thought is put into uniting them

There has never been any continuity between these depictions!
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

In which I talk about the launch, about @cuchi.bsky.social's "chorrijuegos" (loosely: silly-ass games) philosophy and how @binarystar.games' minimalist jam inspired the mechanics I created for this game, as well as the challenges I've faced playing.
Devlog #1: 9 to 5 (Launch and playtest)
Whoa! So glad to launch this and to see it received so well! I loved the idea of chorrijuegos as soon as I came across Asaltadores Del Rol's JAM. From the blog: A lot of times we need to disconnect, s...

Something I’ve noticed is there seems to be a sort of pervasive assumption that the status quo has gravity. That there’s a natural, comfortable way things should be and that deviations from the normal state of the world will correct themselves in time.

But as a paleontologist, I know this is false.

He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

There's been a few posts here recently about how difficult it is to get any feedback in this space, so I want to say that today I got a number of reposts here, a spike in views on my new project, a comment on that same project, and 2 whole upvotes on it in the itch "Release Announcements" forum.

Not to step on Rob's toes, here, but I relate to this feeling a lot as a theater artist. What I'll offer is that something I like about games is being able to just make something and put it into the world without waiting for approval from others to bring it to life. The players are my collaborators.
If you’ve ever wondered why so many really amazing game designers seem kind of salty so much of the time? They show the world their hearts, and receive constant affirmation that the world doesn’t give a crap. With receipts.

Everyone finds their own way to deal with it. Why not a little salt?
