The Vulturine Guineafowl is the largest member of the pheasant family and lives in east Africa where they are widely domesticated and used as watch-birds on farms where they gabble loudly whenever an interloper comes into their territory. They're also gorgeous.

St Margaret of Antioch spearing the dragon at South Newington. Margaret refused to renounce christianity and one of the delights awaiting her was to be consumed by Satan disguised as a dragon. Her cross scratched his insides and she was regurgitated. Sadly, she was decapitated later.

This spectacular Hubble image was captured as part of a survey of protostars (stars in formation) of medium and high mass.

It features just a small portion of the Prawn Nebula (also known as IC 4628), located some 6,000 ly away in Scorpius.

Today (everyday) is a great day to foster a dog or cat. Especially if you live somewhere with cold weather.
