We freely acknowledge that not all billionaires are good people. We strongly oppose Trump, and while we appreciate Musk's contributions to EVs, space exploration, and rural internet access, we're disappointed with the right-wing turn he's taken. Child abusers deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest.

I just learned today that Kerala has now started doing Kumbh, a kind of ritualistic festival for the religious majority to show their power by gathering all fanatics at one place, bathing and polluting the rivers, exchanging diseases, and making loud noises. srsly, have we gone completely bonkers?

A barred owl sits on an arching tree branch with some thick greenery behind. The owl is buffy in color with fine brown streaks vertically on the front as s/he faces us. S/he has a yellow hooked beak and two round dark eyes looking our direction. Though I was quite far away on the foot path, this bird still spooked easily and quickly flew away.

Five super-friendly sari-clad sanitation workers, without adequate personal protective equipment other than scarves to protect their hair, on their way to start work sweeping streets (with long-handled brooms made of sticks tied to bamboo poles), clearing drains, collecting refuse and managing waste. Often from the Dalit community, they face occupational health risks, gender-based violence, and social marginalisation impacting their families and limiting access to education and opportunities. Physically demanding, involving constant exposure to dust and waste, many are employed by municipal corporations or private contractors, with some facing risks of losing their jobs as they get older. So what is an antiquated tool to block off content is now a tool that selectively serves content to the thousands of AI scrapers looking to train on your content. Instead of serving readers, these organizations are serving their writers' hard work to AI models on a plate, while blocking humans.

A rant. I (Ben) have multiple pending deadlines, but am very frustrated tonight. I need to rant about how awful paywalled magazines/news sites are.

Why? Because their paywalls are trivial to break. Paywalls built using javascript actually download the full article, then put up a wall to block it.

Two doves, mostly in shadows, are perched on a platform feeder in the bottom right of frame. The nearer dove is in profile and has his/her head straight up, while the other is bent over getting seeds. Some sunlight cuts across the upright bird's head and you can see a bright red iris and a light blue eye-ring. The background is one large smooth tree branch cutting from lower left to upper right of frame. A bright white wing edge is seen on both birds.

a raptor (Shikra) perched on the branch and looking at the photographer. the bird has grey feathers, and a somewhat white~ish chest. the eyes are red with black pupil. there are leaves and smaller branches around it, framing it nicely. a small bird with blue wing feathers and blue cap, has brownish neck feather, and an orange ring outside black eye. it's perched on a branch and a single green leaf in front of it. a photograph of jungle babbler, it's a small round bird with mostly brown shades of feather, a yellow eye and black iris. the beak is also ranging from yellow to shades of brown. this one was perched on the jeep bar (covered with cloth) - and waiting for us to give it some fried carbs, similar to how others were doing in their vehicle. this was photographed in ranthambore A roufus treepie perched on a jeep looking at the other jeeps where the tourists are giving food to Treepies and Babblers. A reminder - don't feed wildlife, don't make them dependent, it is bad for them,t he environment. Stop being selfish to get that one cool picture of wildbird on your hand. The bird is black head, golden orange body, some black and white wing tips, and tails also has black and white feathers.

This European starling was spotted Monday on newly fallen snow. #Birds #Nature 📸
A mostly iridescent, dark green bird with brown edging on flight feathers and tail feathers is crouched on some pure white snow. A tri-colored beak with a white base, a yellow middle, and a black tip is easily appreciated against the white background. There are scattered brown speckles on the head and chest as well. A single yellow tree pod sits on the snow, in front of the bird, ready to be eaten.
