GlobalNomad living in Somerset, trying to figure this ‘new normal’ life out

It’s hard to grieve what hasn’t died.
Friendships. Trust. Normalcy.
They’re still there—just not the same.
That’s called ambiguous loss.
And it’s everywhere now.

A quick thread 🧵

1. As we face a series of great crises, every parent is confronted with the question of how much we tell our children. We don’t want to lie to them, but nor do we want to terrify them. Of course, there is no single answer. It depends in part on the child. But this thread suggests one approach. 🧵

Great article about why we’re still not being told the truth about Covid and why so little is being done to stop the continued spread

The behaviour may range from his public dissemination of unfounded conspiracy theories to his attacks on the science

Can’t believe it’s taken them 5 years into the pandemic to warn people that Covid spreads through the air but now we will perhaps finally see some action…
Had this debate too many times w/science folk who’ve “clung too tightly to precision and semantics” Finally WHO admits “COVID can be spread through the air…plain language that anyone can understand, and this switch from jargon such as “airborne” and “aerosol” may finally clear the way” to clean air!
A Fight About Viruses in the Air Is Finally Over. Now It’s Time for Healthy Venting
WHO now admits the COVID virus and other germs spread “through the air.” This plain language may help improve research and action to fight disease

We are currently in a Pandemic, which is being denied by politicians and facing a climate emergency which will bring a stream of viral spillover events. This is madness, we need unity.

This is an interesting approach
🔥 A new Left-Right scale of MPs has been published.

All MPs are mapped... the most left wing being Nadia Whittome and the most right wing being Suella Braverman.

This was all based on a new approach by Royal Holloway & Survation -- using 1,000 councillors to answer pair-wise comparisons of MPs.
How ‘left’ is your MP? A new picture
A new and original study has mapped our MPs on a left-right scale. What does it tell us about the people who govern us, in the East and nationally?
