Being the US President looks like a very hard job. Trump makes it look like any idiot can do it.

70 years ago today, (Sept 22, 1955) a General Electric scientist warned about carbon dioxide build-up.

C02 “may be having a greenhouse effect on our climate” because mankind is “contaminating the earth’s atmosphere faster than nature can clean it.”

Robert Redford died today at 89. He gave back through Sundance, fought for environmental protections, and used his fame to highlight injustices.

Instead of being just a mouthpiece for others, he actually embraced through education their plight.

The world needs more brave people like him.

One of the best things about living in a first world country is free vaccination program for children.

Australia’s National Immunisation Program covers free vaccines against at least 15 diseases.

Our kids need more 💉and no 🔫 in their lives.

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt.

This is simply false.

- UN: solar ~8x cleaner than gas, ~19x than coal per kWh
- panels repay CO2 in 4 months; save 57x over life

Apex creatures like Polar bears maintain the balance of the arctic. But only if they can hunt from ice.

This simple diagram helps you understand when one species reduces due to less ice, that means the imbalance reduces other species.

Every piece of the system matters.
Why does Arctic sea ice matter?

Arctic sea ice is more than a platform for polar bears and other species to live, hunt, and rest on, it's the basis of the Arctic food chain and the driver of the whole Arctic ecosystem. Learn more: pbears.org/4oMh0JU 🌎

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. That means the US has more student killers than anyone other first world nation.

How is the US better identifying potential killers and treating them so they still have the right to guns but won’t use them to kill kids? 🤔

The body of the report acknowledges a pattern of high Qantas usage, particularly from Canberra, and admits that individual travellers may not be complying with the policy. Sadly - not in the exec summary read by the many.

Details matter.

Cocos (Keeling) Islands airfield upgrade is mega expensive, at over $550M for a 150m extra runway. It may turn out to be the most expensive upgrade in Australian history - and get even more expensive. All so the US can refuel their P8 and drones.

And #Trump thinks #Australia is not a friend. 🤷‍♂️

Australia’s Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) in Exmouth now operates under U.S. Space Force command, strengthening Space Defence Awareness in the southern hemisphere and feeding into the broader joint US-Australia SDA network.

I know the fossil fuel industry loses when the wind blows, and the sun shines, but I don’t care.

While we approach these Californian figures in Australia during summer, we still have some people believing this is a bad idea.

Renewables are just cheaper.
They say it can’t be done, but here we are, California is generated 106% of California’s entire state electricity demand from renewables.

California has a population bigger that 154 other countries around the world. It’s the 4th largest economy, in the world.

Let that sink in.

Preferential voting is the most logical voting system.

On a 3 person ballet (eg A, B, C), and 65% of voters put A last, then clearly either B or C is more preferred by the majority of people.

The majority of the world rejects first past the post because it’s just unfair.

Salty #Vegemite meets sweet #MapleButter — the ultimate unlikely combo. Now can someone please get this Canadian magic into Australia at a decent price? Every #Quebecois, every #Canadian, and every Aussie who’s been to #Canada knows the deal.
Vegemite is back on the menu in Canada 🇦🇺🇨🇦. Thanks to Prime Minister Mark Carney for working with Australia to make it happen.

Hearing from all corners of HHS this morning about a total bloodletting — firings of scientists, analysts and many more as delayed RIFs take effect.

Many folks didn’t see early AM email and showed up, only to be turned away when badges didn’t work. Was sent this photo of long lines at one HHS site.

Sadly there are people who would rather paint independents as “radicals” but Dr Ryan has shown she is anything but radical.

Hopefully she gets re-elected in a minority gov.

What secret science is #Dutton not telling us?

Is it because Europe has so many more days of sunshine than Australia?

Is it because they have access to cheaper lithium than Australia?

Is it because they have more wind than Australia?

Of course - #LNP has the minerals council funding them.

Can’t wait to see the updated list for #Trump 2.0 appointees.

Surely the intelligent Ramaswamy, known for his role in DoGE, will leave soon. Unlike Musk, he has no need to stay and protect business interests. While I don’t agree with his ideas, they are well thought out.

Thanks for this fact.

Maybe people will appreciate there is no magic process when making LNG for export - producers just burn some of the fuel to freeze the natural gas.

Then there’s the fuel the LNG tankers use. It all adds up.
The gas lobby is rolling out more fearmongering about a gas "shortage".

Don't fall for the con job. It's a cover for them to justify opening up massive new export projects.

Australia exports 35 times more gas than any predicted shortage. #auspol
