Two years in a row, photographer Chuck Wood has witnessed a polar bear interacting with abandoned fishing nets. In 2024, he witnessed a bear struggling in the water, but it thankfully freed itself. This past fall, a fed on a reindeer stuck in a net. Read Chuck's story, here: pbears.org/4jLUTB8

Climate change may be causing some of that ice to injure the feet of polar bears. A 2024 paper found that bears in two of the most northerly populations had suffered lacerations, skin ulcerations, and ice build-up on their feet. Learn more from the paper's lead author: pbears.org/3YtXFkK
