Until Trump began conspiracies about mail voting, Republicans were fully on board with GRACE PERIODS for ballots to arrive as long as postmarked by Election Day. They passed it overwhelmingly in KS, OH, & elsewhere.

But now Trump hates it.

So 4 red states—KS, OH, ND, UT—all banned it this year.
Ohio Bans Grace Periods for Mail Ballots, Fulfilling Trump’s Wishes - Bolts
Ohio is the fourth GOP-run state this year to ban ballots that are postmarked by Election Day but arrive after. A Supreme Court case could force that policy nationwide next year.

One of my favorite presents ever—my dad found and framed this pic of my mother @sunminkimes.bsky.social at a Seattle courthouse after she passed her US citizenship test in 1981. Like so many of the people who come here to start a new life, she is the best of us—the bravest, strongest person I know.

Two of the four signers of this letter to CBS News staff — Weiss and Rubenstein — are conservative oped writers who have done little, if any, actual news reporting in their careers.

It’d be like having a sophomore biology major telling a cardiologist how to do a heart transplant.

very specific to DC complaint here but when trump is threatening to take over the city's historically significant public golf courses so he can privatize them and make them another getaway for the 1% i don't think going "well maybe they shouldnt be golf courses to begin with" is helpful or realistic

Anyway the problem with a permanent vibescession caused at least in part by social media posturing is that while it might screw Trump in the short term it really screws the politics of generosity and solidarity in the long term. Believing times are bad makes people more selfish.

Breaking news: The Kansas City Chiefs have informed administrative officials that they will announce their move to Kansas today, according to sources who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

This is what Bari Weiss et al think "censorship" actually is; when subordinates criticize their superiors. That has been the bedrock of the entire "cancel culture" discourse in elite media; rage at the idea that students, women, journalists, interns, etc might be able to speak against the boss.
The CBS reporter who led the story calls pulling it a "political" decision.
"The decision was made after Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, requested numerous changes to the segment."

You’d think a Democrat wouldn’t be stupid enough to back more government control over the internet under this fascist administration under the pretense of “save the children,” but Dick Durbin has a rock tumbler for a brain.
Children are being exploited and abused because Big Tech consistently prioritizes profits over people.

Enough is enough. Time to sunset Section 230.

Yes. Also, historically, Trump prevents Antifa from rigging his elections when he's out of power, but lets them (and Soros) rig elections when he's in power.

I don't know why - masochism? - but it's helpful for Dems in 2028.
he's very beatable in a scenario in which he unconstitutionally runs for a third term
Trump running for a third term with a fatigued electorate and a 30% approval rating, at age 82, too tired to rally like he used to - my only point here is that this is a scenario he is obviously very beatable in.

The fact that the public *overwhelmingly* wants the actual price level to fall, and for prices to go down across the board is important info about public opinion, but also more than a little tricky to try to implement!
