I think about this almost every day. No joke. It really was the beginning of what I think about as the No Shame No Consequences era, which is just so damn dark. Hopefully it’s not here to stay. Decency has to come back in style eventually right??
It all would have been much easier if, as would have happened if we were remotely a serious country, it all ended with the Access Hollywood interview.

Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

As someone who covered a lot of baseball games back in the day, can confirm this is the kind of image you’re hoping for if you’re stationed at an outfield photo position all game.
'My work here is done.'
This photo of rookie Yesavage casually walking off the mound as future Hall of Famer and helmet-less Ohtani is still in motion striking out is everything. #WantItAll

Another chance for me to shill for the fine folks at Tidal. Not only do they pay the artists a little more, they’re also not doing gross stuff like this.
OK folks, here's the deal. Spotify is running ICE recruitment ads and has ignored asks to stop. It's time to tell them we won't stream fascism - by cancelling our subscriptions. Here's how to get started: indivisible.org/cancel-spotify

Real world example: when I started at the newspaper in Dallas, like mid 2007, the photo staff alone was about 50+ people I believe. Photogs & video folks, editors, support staff. It’s less than 10 now. Rest of the newsroom is a similar story. Just bananas really.
A stat we don't talk about enough: Newspapers have lost 77% of their jobs over the last 20 year, more than any of the 532 other industries tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Last year, CNN ran a “fact check” of Kamala HQ that claimed we were lying for saying Trump’s plan is Project 2025.

Now Trump is outright admitting it’s his plan.

Legacy media failed the country.

NEW: The FCC under Biden passed rules to make phone calls from prison easier, to help keep people connected to their communities.

Trump's FCC has now blocked that change.

Phillip Smith, a man incarcerated in North Carolina, reports for Bolts on what this means for people behind bars:
Priced Out of Phone Calls Home - Bolts
The FCC blocked Biden-era limits on the exorbitant rates and fees charged by prison telecom companies, leaving incarcerated people and their families to fight for state-level reforms.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

If you cut health care for 10 million people, how many of those people will die as a result?

If you made those cuts knowing those people would die, what does that make you?

Absolutely atrocious. These people are a plague.

Sports was one of America's most accessible forms of entertainment. Now it's paywalled, splintered and sold to the highest bidder.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.
