Don't delegate the reading of your contracts to any one or anything. Read the whole fucking thing. If you have questions or don't understand something, this is what your agent or lawyer is for. And fucking YES get a lawyer, one that has some experience with contracts in the relevant field.

No one ever asks to see your transcript and also, after your first real job, no one much cares about your degree, it's about your work experience. My second job didn't ask anything about my education; it wasn't relevant. When I went freelance, it was even less so.
I was a lousy college student in the grades department, but learned the material in my field. And no one ever asked to see my transcript.

Lol. My college GPA was 2.8 (exactly what it was in high school) because I would do well in classes I liked and do poorly in classes I didn't give a shit about. So a) not THAT much of an outlier, I have to say, b) I suspect this is classic ADHD brain at play here.
The F on your transcript is a statistical outlier and should be ignored.

There's a certain kind of person who can't maintain a long term romantic relationship because they haven't out in the self work, but they rail against their adult children going no-contact because secretly they thought these were people who had no choice but to tolerate them at their worst.

Okay, here's the story behind this piece! The first sketch was done in 2016. I didn't have the money to buy professional reference photos, so I mostly took photos of myself and my friends. (and that's why all the faces on my art looked the same - like my face, lol)

Some people don't know how to be alone, and they're going to turn that into a lifelong lesson for all involved.
How many times is getting divorced is too many times?

I have a friend who she’s approaching her 6th divorce. 2 from women and 4 from men

Advice I now give to grad students and postdocs in the sciences: Don’t just try to meet and impress senior scientists. They’ll retire soon. Get to know your fellow students - make friends where possible, be colleagues at least. These are the people you’ll be sharing the field with for decades.

"Why do we have to take ethics classes for a computer science degree?"

This is why. And frankly, we should be failing more students for inadequately demonstrating their understanding of the topic.

Let's review some fun historical examples of why "No, actually quality will continue to matter."

Why is this important nowadays? As people "vibe code" (relying on AI assistance to write code), they are discovering that the tech debt of using code you don't understand can rapidly eclipse the value of the entire project; you get 80% done and realize the last 20% will take double the time/budget!

I saw a popular take on Twitter about how BlueSky is bad because everyone "avoids conflict" there
Uknow, for me, that's exactly why BlueSky is good. I'm not interested in daily battles and weekly witch hunts
I want to draw pictures, not run around a field with a torch looking for people I don't like

This is a really good point that I had not run into before: these "creators" have no further insight into their alleged creation than the average audience member and that is why it cannot be called art (besides all the other obvious reasons).

In NYC there are plenty of people who don't celebrate, and people who do, who dont have anywhere to go.
So as is our tradition, Anyone Comics in BK and Everyone Comics at Queensboro Plaza will be there to entertain from 12-5pm and handing out free books for those who feel left out!

Counterpoint: Live the kind of life where your family wouldn't want to be estranged from you.

There are only two kinds of people who argue against no-contact: Those who have never experienced the kind of soul-crushing relationship that requires it, and those who are the reason someone else did.
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

Most medical/biology research goes above my head, but it’s an interesting read nonetheless. My favorite quote so far, from one of the (dad!) biologists:
“You might think of this as a way to tell your kids something useful for them so that they can be better at dealing with the world they inherit.”
We tend to emphasize the maternal role in development: an egg cell is enormous compared to a sperm cell, and a mother gestates the embryo. But a growing body of research suggests that sperm cells carry more than just genetic information. www.quantamagazine.org/how-dads-fit...

Setting aside the many MANY MANY MANY ethical issues around digitally puppetting the dead and constructing unauthorized facsimiles and theatre in court... An AI avatar cannot be held liable for perjury and cannot be relied upon to represent an uncompromised source. I feel like I'm losing my mind.
This year marked the first time the AI avatar of a victim—in this case, a dead man—has ever addressed a court, and it raises many questions about the use of this type of technology in future court proceedings.
