So so so tired (been up since 3am) but am about to fly off to New York. Particularly excited to share the city with my spouse, who's never been there before. Plus I get to see friends I haven't seen in TOOOO long. The convention is incidental, although it'll keep me busy.

I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

I'm so glad I got to have a horrible cold this week while simultaneously being immensely busy at work and watching American democracy crumble at an accelerated rate. It's even causing issues within genealogy communities so even that hobby isn't safe from the stress and anxiety (as if I ever escape)

The thing that keeps getting me about all the pieces fretting about Bluesky being too insular is that the argument seems to be that those of us who are most likely to be abused by the right (BIPOC people, trans people, queer people, etc) must put up with being abused for the sake of public discourse
