Today’s Tesla Takedown/Take Down the Regime protest in Arlington VA was kind of a big production, with an anti-trillionaire theme (as though we didn’t already have billionaires to worry about)…\1

Also, if you’re a Dem who can’t see that Epstein IS about affordability, u need a new job. A bunch of very rich people have rigged the system to make sure they stay rich and don’t have to play by the rules the rest of us do — tax law, antitrust law, and even laws against sex trafficking children.

There's this story about how CS Lewis was out with a friend and stopped to give a vagrant some money. Lewis's friend chided him, saying "you know he's just to buy liquor with it, right?"

Lewis responded, "Well, so was I."
The right's obsession with SNAP recipients buying popsicles is a modern version of a centuries-old tradition of scolding the poor for what they eat. It mimics verbatim Victorian complaints about the poor indulging in tea and sugar, mistaking consumption as a cause of poverty instead of a symptom.

Veteran ICE officials @nickmiroff.bsky.social spoke with view the use of masks as an unquestionably negative development. But it’s not going away anytime soon, Miroff reports: https://theatln.tc/acMM0axK

Being good at making money doesn’t mean you’re good at anything else. It definitely doesn’t mean your opinions on anything else are important. It most likely just means you’re ruthless, which is the primary trait of most rich people.

I've been reposting everyone replying to this post with their own ACA (and sometimes employer!) price hikes. Feel free to add yours. There is some comfort in knowing you aren't alone and knowing we'll all be voting on this issue in a year.

Chuck Schumer should be chucked out. #chuckchuck
My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

Each state for the State Face font is projected using a relevant state plane projection, and the U.S. (lowercase z) is projected using Texas Centric Albers Equal Area. The source shapefiles are adapted from Natural Earth data.

New to me so sharing -- for those of you who didn't know, there's a font available that gives you tiny US state shapes that can be used as design elements.

it's called State Face, a project by @propublica.org

Totally cool and normal when your "colleagues" talk about your position like this over a "disagreement" (they want you to actually grow a spine and fight while you simply refuse to)
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Democrats put health care subsidies in the foreground while No Kings measures to restore power of the purse stayed in the background. They then got nothing on health care, while of course letting the background stuff go, except for some short-term RIF prohibtions designed to get Kaine's vote.
Sen. @kaine.senate.gov, I'm a constituent and just called your office, but of course it's closed, so let me message you instead. Do NOT support the CR-Minibus because it does not protect Congress's power of the purse. Without such provisions, the WH will continue to ignore Congress with impunity.
What's in the CR Deal for Congress?

Trump is trying to starve hungry kids in order to bully Democrats into abandoning our fight against health care premium increases.

So Trump is starving kids in order to deny families health care.
