Weird request: anybody in Minneapolis want to take a field trip and look at a stairway for me? 630 Cedar Ave. S. had a big fire, and has scissor stairs. The state report about the fire implies that the stairways were open to one another (no wall separating them) – I'd like to confirm that was true.

Until Wallace Loh became president in 2010, the University of Maryland opposed the Campus Drive alignment, based on "the deleterious effects of electromagnetic interference and vibrations on sensitive research," instead supporting the Preinkert Drive alignment. www.uwo.ca/ipb/publicac...
Preinkert/Chapel Drive The Preinkert/Chapel Drive design option is being evaluated for both BRT and LRT through the campus of University of Maryland. The alignment would run from the west on Campus Drive turning right onto Preinkert Drive where it would head southeast. The transitway would turn left to pass directly between LeFrak Hall and the South Dining Campus Hall and then northeast through the Lot Y parking lot. From there, the alignment would run east along Chapel Drive between Memorial Chapel and Marie Mount Hall and eventually would pass to the south of Lee Building at Chapel Fields. The alignment would continue onto Rossborough Lane, passing directly north of Rossborough Inn to cross US 1, and continues east through the East Campus development.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

My statement on the funding deal to reopen government, protect federal employees, and vote to protect health care:
"I have long said that to earn my vote, we need to be on a path toward fixing Republicans’ health care mess and to protect the federal workforce. This deal guarantees a vote to extend Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, which Republicans weren’t willing to do. Lawmakers know their constituents expect them to vote for it, and if they don’t, they could very well be replaced at the ballot box by someone who will. This legislation will protect federal workers from baseless firings, reinstate those who have been wrongfully terminated during the shutdown, and ensure federal workers receive back pay, as required by a law I got passed in 2019. That’s a critical step that will help federal employees and all Americans who rely on government services. I’ll keep working towards a long-term government spending plan that includes critical priorities to support Virginians and funding for Virginia community projects."
