Thanks US for letting your politics leak up here! P_lease keep JD focused on couches and other issues in the US. We definitely need a better border. Interestingly, the Ice Cap Management company that made the graph is very pro-fossil fuels! Coincidence? I think not!

Yesterday was two year since my heart attack! What better way to celebrate than having whisky with 36,000 year old ice wedge ice from Eureka Creek, Yukon with colleagues from the Pacific Geoscience Centre! From left to right, Taimi, Randy, Tark, me. Picture of the slightly dirty ice.

Wildlife encounters on my walk today at the Pacific Geoscience Center. Many seals on a dock. A blue heron and a kingfisher on a breakwater, and a seal frolicking at the end of the big dock. What a great place to work!

Really good article on the whole ostrich fiasco in central BC. Not surprising the connection to the "freedom convoy people". Hopefully it is accessible to non-subscribers:

As usual, an excellent well researched article by Tyler.
STORY: 4 years after the 2021 floods and landslides, major promises linger. There is no federal money to stop a future Nooksack Flood of Sumas Prairie. There is no national flood insurance program. And BC's new Flood Strategy lacks the funding to actually see it through.

One of the reasons why this weekend's storm system is looking so impressive is that the associated airmass will be among the moistest on record for November in SoCal, with record or near-record column water vapor and integrated vapor transport in some areas. #CAwx
