One on side, the Trump administration is arguing that hormones are "mutilating" when used by trans people. When used by cis people, they are removing all the warning labels and increasing access.

Funny how that works.

It’s time for James Challenges @desertbus.org Chat. But I’m gonna be honest with y’all and lay it all out. Obviously this year has been rough on everyone, myself included. It’s been a struggle to find the energy for this years run. I know I’ll muster the juice needed for the show, but I’m tired.

Last year, @michaelfwehner.bsky.social and Jim Kossin made the scientific case for a Cat6 cyclone. This week, Hurricane Melissa became the 6th storm in recorded history to smash through that threshold, with max winds of 216mph. And conditions leading to these storms are on the rise.

I applaud the Python Software Foundation for taking this stand.

When limes are 30 cents each, I feel okay about using half a lime for garnish in my Mai Tai

Except it’ll go in the fridge and I’ll use it tomorrow.

I have a sno-cone ice shaver, and all my ridiculous brain wants to do is make chicken broth sno-cones from the bricks of chicken broth in my freezer.

Tell me this is a) a great idea or b) a terrible idea.

FYI for BC residents, if you want a COVID booster/flu shot, I was able to search in my emails for a previous "Book your next vaccine appointment" from a previous year and click on the link and it just let me schedule my covid vaccine.

An interesting one - placer mineral vs mineral deposit.
From 2021 --where geomorphology and policy collide! Is a jade boulder subglacial till or a mountain outcropping dislodged by a post-glacial landslide in more recent times?

Today I got to make dots and rectangles because the previous rectangles were in the wrong spot and now they are less wrong.

Soon, someone will go check the location of the dots in real life and then I will again rearrange my dots and rectangles so they are less wrong.

They will always be wrong.

It's ok if you are new to alt text or aren't confident with how to use it yet. Just give it a try!

Alt text has been around for decades. It used to be popular on dial-up when pictures wouldn't load, instead of just having a blank square. It's the same thing now. Used by people with vision issues.

STORY: The behaviour of coastal BC fires is changing. They remain rare. Locals over-react b/c of an unfamiliarity with fire. But there's real reason to worry. Coastal fire season won't be like that of BC's Interior.

But it could be like western Washington, which is scary

I remain truly impressed with the Air Canada flight attendants who continue to strike in defiance of the “back to work” order from the government. They should be paid for their entire shift, ground work included.
