No lie, some of my happiest memories as a kid were of lying awake in bed at night with the radio on so I could listen to Dr. Demento. His show was a formative influence on me.

And I'm smugly proud to say, I was listening the very first time he played Weird Al -- another formative influence.
Barret Hansen — better known as Dr. Demento — is retiring after 55 years in radio.

The 84-year-old broadcaster has introduced audiences to "comedy songs, parodies, and musical oddities" since 1970.

And episodes from his entire run are archived on his website.

One of two scenarios is true here.

One: it was legit ICE and they're lying about being there.

Two: it was not legit ICE, just a bunch of ICE cosplayers.

Either way, it makes ICE look even worse than they already are, and that is a hell of a feat.
I feel like every day, I'm seeing more and more examples of this in real time.

ICE was at Dodgers Stadium. This is a fact that has been documented by protestors and the national news.

Except ICE is now denying it on X and saying it wasn't them. It's government gaslighting in real time.

Doesn't look like these shitstain art thieves are on Bluesky, but if you see them, make sure to immediately report and block so they don't gain traction here.
Jesus H. Christ.

Sleazy AI outfits AmeriSatire and ToonAmerica are stealing legit political cartoons, "redrawing" them with AI and posting them as original work on social media.

Shameless plagiarism, utterly immoral, and blatant copyright crime.
To all colleagues, cartoon fans and friends out there, please consider supporting real cartoonists by reporting and denouncing AmeriSatire and ToonAmerica on YouTube and any other impostors who steal art from professionals to pass it off as their own using AI.

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

In the last 24 hours, I've been angry and scared, but I've found some comfort from Mel Brooks talking about dealing with Nazi's. They want us scared, they want us to take them seriously. They hate when we laugh at how ridiculous they are. We need to fight hard and make fun of them as we do.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive
