@sciencevs.bsky.social your recent episode on daylight savings missed a critical variable IMHO: the issue is one of adaptation. It’s hard to ever adapt to an abrupt change. But if we picked one or the other and stuck with it, people would adapt. We’d probably be fine. If work/schools don’t that’s 💩

This may explain why Saint Paul’s Midway is struggling. It’s easier and faster to go to Maplewood or Roseville for big shopping trips. Midway may be more successful as a local stop mixed use small retail. Stop wooing big box retail. Leave that ugliness to suburbs. streets.mn/2025/09/18/w...
Why the Midway’s Suburban Design Is Killing Its Commercial Future
The Midway’s retail crisis isn’t just about vacancy — it’s about suburban design choking transit-accessible land with parking lots and car-oriented stores.

@waywordradio.org I just found this on Reddit. It’s a baffling construction to me. A core word “when” being swapped for “whenever”. www.reddit.com/r/ENGLISH/s/...

“let your life speak” is one of the Quaker expressions that inspires me the most, because really, who cares what I can say when I could just live my values every day.

@blindeke.bsky.social I loved this article www.minnpost.com/cityscape/20... with one respectful disagreement: the penultimate stop eastbound on the gold line now features Japanese discount store DAISO!!! If that’s not a destination I don’t know what is
New B and Green Lines illustrate possibility for bus rapid transit
The costly BRT lines that debuted in the Twin Cities over the past two months could not be more different.

Just marched against fascism in Philadelphia. It felt hopeful in dire times.

Our country, so flawed and so promising, was born in this city, founded by Quakers who loved principles and rejected empty symbols. We will outlive a movement that worships empty symbols and despises ideas.

I would say - 'peace', for me, is a discipline and hard sometimes!!!

I'm a pacifist because I don't expect anyone else to die or suffer on my behalf. I also realise how easy peace is for white people

The thing I love most about this is the lens of evaluating all holy messages based on the two commandments Jesus gave: does the passage show a love for the divine? Does it show a love of neighbor as oneself? If not, what work is needed to see the light in it?
How to read the Bible like a Quaker
Tim Gee reflects on how Quakers read the Bible and introduces the World Quaker Day theme of 'love your neighbour'.

I spoof much prefer this approach. Tesla has done a lot of good showing that EVs can be cool. They are by far the most recognizable EV on the road. Just get rid of their mean man child CEO. They’d probably be a better company for it.
