"That sounds like a mess"
"And that's why we think the Supreme Court wouldn't do it"

My dude, illegal shit causes all kinds of messes that courts force people to deal with. "It'll be a big mess so." is not a legal philosophy.
HASSETT: If the Supreme Court doesn't find with us, refunds would go to whoever cut the check for the tariff

BRENNAN: Doesn't the administration claim it was the country that paid that?

HASSETT: Uhh --

Holding up well: "We have a president who is trying to end wars, not start them." Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, 2025
Okay so that is (as far as we know): 3 Aegis-class destroyers, the cruiser the USS Lake Eerie, a fast-attack submarine, the 3-ship Iwo Jima amphibious ready group carrying a Marine Expeditionary Unit and now 10 F-35s (unclear which branch's F-35s) deployed to the Caribbean. All in the last month.
From the Fox News National Security correspondent: "It looks to me like the US military is going to war."

Stop giving me money, give me your time is exactly the message we need in progressive politics.

Meanwhile in Wisconsin, we close the Hank Aaron State Bike trail segment that runs through the fairgrounds during the fair.
Monday at the state fair. Build more bike infrastructure.

This @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The numbers he cites, the strategy and results they produced — it’s the future. When have you heard *any* campaign talk about this, ever? (Video split in 2 to fit in Bluesky’s limits)

We have some news to share with you. 🥄

Today we took legal action to challenge our termination, filing an appeal with the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. We did this because we believe the elimination of 18F violated safeguards that exist to protect a nonpartisan civil service.

New, from me:
The DOGE project was sold as tech disruptors who would revolutionize government. To try to understand why DOGE has failed, I point to lessons that other technologists who worked in government learned, but DOGE ignored. 🧵

everyone should listen to this in its entirety but journalists should listen to it multiple times. this is how you ask questions. you just keep asking simple, easily answerable stuff and the evasiveness becomes that much more glaring
In which the Department of Homeland Security struggles to answer a very simple question: "Is any criticism of the United States government a deportable offense?"

“If we consider the needs of nondriving children, nondriving teens, nondriving adults and nondriving seniors all together, it begins to feel inexcusable to design communities that require car ownership and the ability to drive.” - @nondriver.bsky.social
The inherent chaos, inefficiency, and safety risks of school drop-offs mirror the paradox of car dependency more broadly: the more that people who have the privilege of driving are incentivized to drive, the more difficult, less comfortable, and less safe it becomes for people who don’t.
School Dropoff Is Everything That Sucks About Car Culture

I used to dread winter because of the driving. Now I enjoy it because of the biking. Better infrastructure and maintenance would allow more people to experience the benefits of winter biking and make our streets safer for everyone.
