$10.69 for a 15-minute ride?

For visitors, public bikeshare often feels like a ripoff.

In CityLab, I explored why.
Bikeshare Shouldn’t Kick Tourists to the Curb
Barcelona’s bikeshare program excludes non-Spanish visitors. Other cities charge tourists much higher fees to rent two-wheelers. Which policy makes more sense?

Clipper 2.0 is going to revolutionize how we get around the Bay. Something as simple as taking the bus to the train will be rewarded, not punished.

From my house in Berkeley to my friends in the Castro could be literally half the price as today.

First BayWheels station directly on the lakeside path at Lake Merritt. Let's hope this can drive some ridership and lead to some rebalancing in Oakland.

Have you wondered why Oakland's protected bikeways on Telegraph, 14th St, & elsewhere are so narrow? The fire department's insistence on 26' road clearance is the reason. Another proposed protected bikeway on Lakeside btwn 14th & 17th was cancelled altogether.

This piece details some solutions. 👇

Public transport often treats bikes as a luxury—or worse a competitor—but without them leaves revenue on the table.

For 25 years, the Dutch have extended the reach of their railways through investments in (300,000) parking spaces and (25,000) shared bikes. The result? A doubling of train ridership.

The advances in the use of evs worldwide should be sign of solid hope. If China can achieve 50% new sales, there is no reason America cannot amp up its efforts - except that Trump is trying to keep Americans shackled to his cronies’s gas pumps.

Just charge $10 to drive into the goddamn airport. It'll solve the traffic problem.
LA is building a new $1.5 billion freeway into LAX.

The very same airport where we just spent $2 billion on the people mover — actually, more like $3 billion, plus another $900 million if you count Metro's investment in the LAX station; so let's just say $4 billion — to make cars go away
