There were certain things you could count on to be done right. When even these fail, what kind of a society can we call ourselves now?

Reform's "it's just free speech" defence for hosting Malhotra is absurd.

It's a party conference, not Hyde Park corner.

They didn't just hand the mic to anyone who wandered in.

They invited Malhotra, gave him the main stage and the chair said "he worked with me to write Reform's health policy".

The radical right in Britain increasingly claims to represent "Christian values" & "Christian civilisation" - though its leaders rarely go to church or pretend to believe anything.

It's especially important that Christian leaders speak out against this, as it's their tradition that's being claimed.
A courteous but very impressive rebuke to Nigel Farage from the Bishop of Oxford.

"I heard no compassion in what you said...".

"I disagree profoundly with your attempts to ... increase fear of the stranger in our communities".

Do read.

I am sickened by the relentless demonisation of refugees.

No refugee underfunded a school.

No refugee closed a hospital.

No refugee took away support from the sick and disabled.

We need solutions not scapegoats. Stop blaming refugees and tax the rich instead!

I've started a new list!
This one is about medieval towns, villages & cities with bathhouses.
It's a work in progress but it would be cool if you could all contribute.
So if you find any mention of a medieval bathhouse with a source, let me know.

Norwich Castle has had quite the renovation and look, colours!
This is a much more authentic depiction of what (many) medieval castles would have looked like than the bare cold walls you see in films/tv shows.
