Game publisher execs are about two more fads away from putting all their faith in literal magic beans.

They went all-in on services, all-in on NFTs, all-in on AI. Every time they’re convinced they’ve invested in a divine cure-all.

They believe in magic the way a child might. Except kids learn.

If you've never checked out the retro gaming zine Between the Scanlines, you're missing out on something incredible, dude. Very good content for your brain space.
New pinned post and info sheet!

I'm curious and passionate about a whole bunch of nerdy and cool stuff! I also publish a fortnightly retro gaming and anime 'zine and write on several blogs:

Love seeing journalists for big outlets examining what we examine what we over here at gAmeDHD are all about.

"One commenter captured what I was worried about: 'This is the same rhetoric used when people say that “everyone is queer these days'."

I finally got caught up on Season 2 of the Playdate, and boy-howdy is it a doozy. Each of the first three weeks have offered up some primo game-ature for your little yellow handheld (not to mention Blipo+). The ADHD Console reigns supreme yet again. Stay tuned to Blipo+ and gAmeDHD. Love you!

Colin Clark The Playdate is a thing of beauty. I carry it with me everywhere I go. It sits in my purse top pocket along with its yellow usbC cable. It’s there whenever I have a few minutes to…

Will the Man Get Frog?

@marechalbanane.bsky.social 's game "Will the Man Get Frog" will force you to sound smart. I built a handheld pico8 machine, and this is all me and @pastaslut3000.bsky.social are stuck playing.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is *peak* societal critique and commentary. If you thought it was, what I've seen described as "popcorn anime bullshit"... I just can't connect with you. Xenoblade proves that everyone has worth. The fact that that's foundational knowledge some ppl lack is, like, super spooky.

There's something magical about seeing a #UFO50 game level fully compiled into one image. I love being able to see the intention behind entries in my overall favorite game of all time (tied with FFXIV). Very cool stuff!

Even if the OG translation was probably "kusoge," doesn't change the fact that sometimes a boring game is exactly what your brain craves/needs sometimes.

Here's your fascinating gaming history fact of the day. Apparently the original release of Deltarune would delete the entire folder it was kept in if you ran the Uninstaller. Absolutely wild.
To clarify, it was indiscriminately deleting the folder it was in. So if anyone installed it accidentally to just C:\Games instead of \Games\Deltarune, it would nuke everything in there.

We have been made to be constantly exhausted, and then we have been given more bread and circuses than we've ever had in all of human history. In unrelated news, our next piece is a brief history and the general standing of games media and how mediocre men in suits are trying to ruin it. Enjoy.

This is an astounding write-up. This deserves your attention. What an incredible thing games do for us and we do for ourselves.
Oh hey, I'm proud to contribute to worker-owned and independent new site Skybox!

This is my essay about having a stroke, losing the ability to write or walk or play video games, and digging myself out of that depressive hole using video games. It's maybe the most vulnerable writing I've ever done.

The new Kingdom Hearts screenshots are such a nothing story and it makes me so sad that's is what "needs" to be covered to get views/clicks etc. It's a truly depressing time for general corpo games media. We're not the answer, but individual writers, and those hired *are*. Follow writers you like.

Hoarders against digitally archiving carts are worse than scalpers. These carts should be in public archives at the Video Game Preservation Museum.
A ton of beta games are being sold and the non profit who were prepared to dump them lost the deal

Working on a piece about the beauty of "background games" for adhd kids who got in trouble for doodling in class. What's your go-to game to play while you c.o.n.s.u.m.e other (more) nourishing media? What constitutes a good background game in your book? What level of comfort do you look for, if any?

Including large format images in your kit with and without logos is like, so wildly clutch.
once again begging indie game studios to post full 1920p or larger versions of their cover art/logos on their websites. I have spent so much time digging to find covers and never finding them because the assets simply don't exist. I want to promo your games! Help me help you!
