Hey I triggered a Mormon with this who called me an effing moron and blocked me… are we beginning to see the fun times of old twitter coming through.

Godly love and all that.

Yes there’s a typo it’s latter not later
Some of the more influential ones are a marketing campaign by the church of later day saints.

It’s not as innocuous as I’d like it to be.

Every single “investment expert “ is emphasizing diversification to include investment in other stock markets. And that will extend to private markets and start ups.

It’s possible to export your smartest people, hire overseas , and fund their business at a fraction of costs you face here. Insane

I think our mistake was assuming they'd be smarter when it came to consolidating authoritarianism. I don't think anyone could anticipate the exponential effects produced by the combination of Trump's cognitive decline, his batshit cabinet, and Musk's ketamine-fueled excellent adventure.

Happy to see that the demand for civil discourse is finally losing its veneer. Old enough to remember being on the receiving end of that demand from liberal academics and upper middle class finance crowd.

Pleasant discourse is a luxury demanded by cowards
Yes, for sure - twitter and here. But here if you depart from a specific set of talking points it's very hostile immediately, whereas Twitter had more strands of the left. Also I just think it's so funny that blue sky was touted in part as a platform for civility.

All this dreck is just more support for my "people's politics is downstream of their aesthetic preferences and how they perceive the vibes of any person, place, or thing." If young women making a good wage in their 20s thanks to their skill at email writing gives you murderous rage, MAGA is for you!

one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

This feels like a sort of carnival-week funeral for the US republic. Beneath deep anger at Trump's orgy of vandalism and self-worship, I feel deep sadness. What a train wreck of a superpower.

I take the bold stance that misogyny is extremely bad even when it’s applied to white cis straight women with federal jobs who kinda remind you of your mom.

The accelerationist belief that if things get bad enough, then things will start to get better is quite something to see in the wild. It’s wrong though. Historically, misery creates more misery and is visited on the most marginalized in ever intensifying cycles of horror.

Don't be doomer about the fragmentation of media or the existence of the rightwing echo chamber. A loyal opposition doesn't need to reach even half the population to be well primed for mass mobilization when the opportunity arises. We just need to hold on to as much as we can, reach as far as we can
“Keeping opposition voices accessible among at least a third of the voting age population is critical to avoiding the typical competitive authoritarian scenario.” www.liberalcurrents.com/we-must-defe...

It is absolutely critical that the opposition have a voice that is widely heard.

My lord, the responses.

The world blew up in your faces. Many will face horrid consequences and all the vitriolic responses confirm that you are self absorbed toddlers.

You lost. You lost to a madman. You’re doubling down.
I’m committed to posting on BlueSky because I do think it’s important for progressive intellectuals to hear from someone who is outside the left-most 90% of the population.

Something I see over and over again is a desire to unlock some semiotic key that will “disqualify” Republicans.
