This is inhumane and utterly disgraceful. The Nasty Party should be ashamed of it. British citizens being stripped of legal status and denied the social safety net. This is simply a racist way to disempower the poor and impoverish the working classes. It's a wedge and we'll all be next. ✊
The Established Church needs to find a voice on this kind of dehumanising depiction of men, women and children who have come to our country, being spilled all over the place to say the only thing that has human value is a salary above £38k and thst any foreigner who ever earns less must get out

I've written to my (Labour) MP asking them to pressure the UK Government to leave X and insist that associated & funded organisations also leave. This hateful bs from Musk is completely unacceptable.
Elon Musk's comments socialising violence against migrants & ethnic minorities as inevitable and legitimate might just about manage to be borderline lawful. But they are deeply toxic & association with Musk tor UK institutions should now be toxic too
Elon Musk spoke by video to Tommy Robinson's anti-immigrant rally in the UK today.

"You're in a fundamental situation here where, whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you," said Musk. "You either fight back or you die."

Good to see today’s Guardian Editorial mention my story that women will lose out under the new PIP rules.

If a system leaves women sitting in her bloodied underwear because she can no longer pay the care worker that used to help her get to the toilet, it is one no MP should be backing.

Apart from being an inhuman policy, it fails to take into account employer attitudes to disability. Disabled people are often seen as an absence 'risk', especially by SMEs, so work prospects are lower than average. Disabled people want to work but the social security cliff-edge is a real problem.

WTAF @teamlabouruk.bsky.social Utterly inhumane. Nobody voted for you with this horror in mind.
The DWP has admitted it expects 70,000 more people to lose disability benefits under its planned cuts than previously disclosed

In total, the DWP predicts 440,000 disabled people will lose their existing PIP daily living benefit

Dangerous stuff and part of a pattern now. Not even showing basic regard to legal rights.
Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

When I wrote my camps book, people sometimes had difficulty understanding how concentration-camp regimes were proud of what they were doing and wanted attention for it, even as they also hoped to keep many aspects secret and terrorize vulnerable classes. Anyway, this is what that looks like.

Language used by individuals associated with the federal government who deported people without trial or due process to a concentration camp in El Salvador, defying a court order, has a specific resonance that, historically, has been used to change regime type.

The Times is free this weekend. Some good stuff, but also an interview with Farage (inc. technically great but ghastly portrait photo with union jack socks) and in-depth feature on Queen Camilla, plus an article about a family that has 'three properties but still feels poor'. Subscribe? No thanks.

In this current harsh world, let's warm a few hearts remembering the events of 7-8 March 1991, when the 90,000 people of Brindisi woke up to find 25,000 Albanians roaming the streets of their town. For perspective, that's roughly equivalent to 25k people suddenly landing in Hastings [Thread] >> 1

The Barras Market is a hybrid of historic attraction and functioning market. While it's got a new lease of life, there's a whole generation of old school traders slowly fading away.

Which is why photographer Stuart Edwards set out to capture them.
