In a week, I'll be in Minnesota looking for as many owls as I can find. So, since I'm in an owl frame of mind, here's a rufous morph Eastern Screech-owl from March '23.

This Eastern Screech-owl is the rufous variety, as compared to the gray color that's more often seen. It's a beautiful orange-brown, with white streaks on the belly. It's got greenish eyes, and is sitting on a small branch. Green pine trees are in the background.

Happy year of the snake! I would argue that the snakes of the United States are just as varied and pretty as our birds. A few years ago I made a poster to try and prove it. Drawing this took many months and a lot of research. You can get it here:
