New York promises to pay people an additional $365 a week on the condition that they remain unemployed. As opposed to offering a universal basic income that has no such condition, that continually shows increases in employment as a result.

2 studies of the Rx Kids program are out today—one about the moms and one about the kids. Here's what happened when $1500 was given to ALL pregnant moms in Flint and also $500/mo for a year after birth:

Flint saved $6.2M in NICU expenses due to fewer premature births

Postpartum depression fell 14%
The US town that pays every pregnant woman $1,500: ‘We’re not OK with our babies being born into poverty’
Infants in Rx Kids in Flint, Michigan, saw lower rates of prematurity and other issues, saving millions in NICU visits

We live in a country where about half the population thinks the other half must be FORCED TO WORK with the threat of starvation and homelessness. After universal basic income is achieved, we will live in a country where each of us knows that none need to be forced and that we all WANT TO CONTRIBUTE.

If you take seriously the idea that we need to have zero trade deficit with every country, we better get to helping massively develop every poor country until they’re rich enough to afford our high value manufactured goods. Sounds like a job for USAID.

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.

This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.

Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.

And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Musk is unilaterally wrecking the government from within and lining his own pockets. Get him out, terminate his access to all government systems. If you can't rally the public against a cartoonishly corrupt bond villain who's stealing from them in plain sight then get out of politics
Senate Democrats met privately today for lunch to discuss strategy. They widely disapprove of the six-month bill that House Republicans passed, but they remain jittery about a government shutdown if it fails. With Rand Paul a NO, the bill needs at least 8 Dems to pass the Senate. Jury's still out.

I know this is going to sound naive or earnest, but I genuinely find myself shocked by how little people seem to be upset by the levels of corruption we're seeing. Is that the median voter assumes everyone is corrupt already? Or isn't actually getting stories about the corruption?

The funniest thing about all this is Joe Biden built a "bring back US manufacturing" button and Trump could have just kept pressing it but instead he insisted on smashing the "crash the stock market" button

100%. Do not enable all of this. A short term government shutdown is nothing compared to illegal systematic government shutdown via DOGE
@tommalinowski.bsky.social is completely correct here. If Democrats provide the decisive votes to sanction Trump’s criminal government, it’ll be a historic failure of both principle and politics. newrepublic.com/article/1925...

Still not good that 4 members of the Supreme Court agreed with a clearly unconstitutional executive action. Won't be good either when 47 ignores it and his loyalist Congress does nothing.
The US Supreme Court has denied Trump‘s bid to cancel nearly $2 billion in USAID spending. The vote is 5-4. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

I hate it here!
SCOTUS holds that the EPA *cannot* order cities to maintain acceptable water quality standards by limiting the discharge—usually sewage—that they dump into nearby bodies of water (like oceans and bays). The four women justices, dissenting, say that's ridiculous. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...
