Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

For those deleting our Academia dot edu accounts (due to their new exploitative TOC) make sure to follow the instructions quoted below or they'll force you to accept the TOC before you can get to the "delete my account" button.

See you all on the open-source alternative hcommons Humanities Commons!

I know there’s a lot of horrors to fight but if you have bandwidth I can personally attest that PSLF is literally life-changing and it by design benefits people working for the public good (and not just educators!). It’s only been a handful of years since Biden-era changes made it actually WORK.
The Dept of Education is now accepting comments on a proposed rule that would overhaul Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and make it too expensive for students to go into work that threatens the Trump administration

Folks have til *Sept. 17* to oppose the changes

You can see America as a nation built on a monstrous agenda of genocide, enslavement, apartheid. Or you can see America as a nation of people who - massacred, enslaved, disenfranchised - absolutely refused again and again to accept that agenda. I am so proud of that second nation.

Anyang Museum in Henan Province finished restoration on a local tomb mural depicting a black and white cat (note the bell collar!).

Belonging to official Zhao Yigong, the tomb was completed in 829 CE; it's thought to be the earliest Chinese tomb mural of a domestic cat.
