Got a couple arcade bangers out this week - I've played both, they're legit.
Vertically scrolling shmup Birdcage, which has some Radiant Silvergun inspiration but is faster and more aggressive.
And side-scrolling run n' gunner Neon Inferno. Contra meets Cabal with a 'shoot the background' button.

My hot take about Metroid is that I'm not big into Metroid but I don't think you should ever hear a single human voice or see a single human face during the course of those games unless you 101%'d it, and then you get to see Samus's newest gorgeous visage say "congratulations, gamer" at the camera

While I understand people are skeptical of the Steam Machine as being too wonky to make a dent in PlayStation or Nintendo, I absolutely see a scenario in which it replaces Xbox, which does not seem to be difficult at this point.

Even as amazing as Silksong is (and it is amazing) its just too fucking long. I stepped away from it for a little break to play... something, and I have zero desire to return to it. Maybe I'm just depressed, lmao.

A lot of the games I was most looking forward to this year ended up being disappointing in one way or another. I really don't have a GOTY, and it's November. Holding onto hope that Birdcage or Neon Inferno can come in clutch. It's been a very weird year with how I feel about the medium.
