I live happily in London, with foxes, squirrels, husband and occasional mouse (the cat died). I am fond of things being fair and I like evidence-based truth and to form my own opinion. I'm left of centre & a pragmatist. The world now scares me.

Did the big Garden Birdwatch today. We live in Hackney. I looked out at the tits, blackbirds, sparrows, hoping for a parrot or a finch, and suddenly a sparrow hawk at the bird bath. What a thrill. The songbirds vanished, mind.

Yet again the NYT tries to persuade a Brit to take out a subscription for their games with a Wordle word ‘Fritz’. Forget it NYT.

Palestine Action arrests yesterday … 474 arrests, was it? What is it Steve Richards always says? Consequences. And while the far right kick off every w/e an 89 year old is arrested. I despair.

People debating whether or not the Israeli government is committing genocide on Palestinians. How about if we just call it torture and mass murder?

I wake in the middle of each night thinking of starving children, doctors too weak from hunger to help. I am beyond angry at our so called leaders doing so little.

The BBC and UK MPs all rush to condemn Kneecap and Bob Vylan, meanwhile, Israeli kids sing horrifying state propaganda songs about the “annihilation” of Gaza whilst referring to themselves (white people) as “the pretty and the pure” and nobody says a fucking thing.

This shit is chilling.

So, this is what someone who despises nature did in Hackney today. Maybe they are ill in some way?

Labour: the party which managed to ruin its own honeymoon; without the humility to listen to its ordinary supporters, or communicate anything positive in simple words.

I am a Labour voter and I know they’re doing good things in power. But I cannot support them now. For goodness sake, tax wealth! Reform property tax! Anything, but make the poor poorer.

This morning, shopping, I was asked by the man serving me why I wasn’t smiling! I asked him how he would feel if he was asked the same question? And none of your damned business, I thought. The shop has lost my custom.
