We don't know who this "friend" was who apparently is paying our military. Congress used to be interested in that kind of thing, but not anymore. However, Trump has a long history of talking about imaginary people as if they were real.

It strikes me that the reason Trump and Congressional Republicans lie about tens of millions of Americans somehow being paid to protest is because they can't fathom how anyone would do anything if there wasn't some kind of scam or monetary payoff. They think everyone is just as corrupt as them.
