For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

When the venue for a gig puts you up in a nice house but you get locked outside on the deck & have to call for rescue... and the first thing they see entering are 4 unrelated items on the counter that you forgot to put away... and you can see them mentally *trying* to create a narrative around them.

every time I see an A-list actor in an ad for some slot machine phone game, I think about how Bill Murray's character in Lost in Translation doing advertisements is framed as basically the highest form of humiliation an actor could go through.

I was paid in honey mead and erotica coffee table books by a Czech publisher in the early 90s. I was given the choice of those two or "stationery".
I already shared that but people like this!

When Pepsi signed a distribution deal with USSR, trade embargo was in place so monetary transfers were not feasible. Pepsi was paid in decommissioned military equipment and for a short glorious while Pepsi was the 6th largest military power in the world
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share

All the people I still know in LA laugh and laugh when they hear that "Los Angeles is burning." I made a couple of maps to show just how tiny and localized the protests are. GOPers are working really hard to make an excuse for declaring martial law. People should be very wary of that.

Today, my NIH colleagues and I did something scary but really important. We spoke up about egregious harms we are seeing happen to research participants and public health through thoughtless and politicized policies at NIH. 🧵1/3

$160 billion in new spending on building jails, hiring more ICE 'agents' to carry out kidnappings & flying people to torture prisons.

For comparison, the 2024 NIH budget, which funds essentially all US medical research, was $47.1 billion.

Funding racism instead of research.

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH**

Egg prices are soaring again. Here’s why and what to expect
