What a perfect formulation:

“This is, in many ways, the dynamic that defines reactionary centrism: the right must be understood, but never blamed. The left can be blamed, but need not be understood.” www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/709...
What is a reactionary centrist, and does the UK have them?
A term favoured by US progressives can help us understand Britain’s drift to the right

I don’t want to believe this is real, but it probably is.

That last line is one of the absolute single scariest things to me and that it was said with such casual happiness is even more disturbing.

Not distressing.

Full tilt disturbing.

My latest newsletter is about how Internet culture died, and why the centralization of the web around a handful of large platforms is responsible for making the web a duller, more boring place.

Vaccines and climate change are similar in that whether or not you actually believe they’re a thing based in science, your insurance company definitely does.
Regardless of the disgraceful nonsense we will likely hear from this administration in the coming days on vaccine “recommendations,” Americas healthcare insurers issued a joint statement tonight saying coverage for Covid and flu shots will remain unchanged from prior years.

Speaks for itself.

I don't mean to keep harping on this, but there is absolutely no way Ezra Klein would have said "CHARLIE KIRK OWNS WOKE LIBTARD" videos were the right way to go about political discourse last week.
Something about the Kirk "practice politics the right way" that I don't get is that the debates Kirk and others have held seem mostly designed to create viral content, either by himself, TPUSA, or the left wing creators who join him. None of this actually has ever "solved" anything in America.

The asymmetrical media response to political violence in America is, in itself, one of the most important contributing factors to how we arrived at this place of escalating political violence.

please don't continue his work
The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

For everyone saying political violence has no place in this country…

Remember two Democratic legislators were shot in Minnesota just this year.

And America shrugged and moved on.

This just reminded me that Circuit City went out of business in 2009, so people used to put it down as a previous employer during the Great Recession because there was nobody to call and verify employment history. And now I’m wondering what the equivalent might be during the next economic collapse.

The upcoming crash is going to be much worse than ‘08, as assets are much more irrationally valued, as we are looking at a multi-bubble setup, as the U.S. is selling the Fed put and as there is not enough money for proper bail-outs.
Markets are just not serious and will pay for it dearly.
