I really hate that phrase "the British public want..."
There is NO SUCH THING as one homogenous body of people who all think the same thing. And a government elected on 33% of the vote on a manifesto they have largely abandoned have NO right to speak for anyone else.

Asked if Keir Starmer believes British people want to "see refugee children pulled out of school and deported after 10 years in this country”, his spokesman says that “what the British public wants and what this government was elected on a mandate to deliver was to secure our borders"

Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund stands at a whopping $2 Trillion because they invested in their future.

We could’ve been in a similar position, but UK Govs squandered our oil wealth.

Westminster never works for Scotland, it’s time for independence. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Scotland’s unemployment is falling 📉 while the UK rate rises under Labour 📈 — a clear sign of the difference the SNP is making and that Labour at Westminster isn’t working.

Independence is the fresh start Scotland needs for more and better jobs. @thesnpmedia.bsky.social

If the price of providing free bus transport to everyone who needs it whilst protecting our planet by reducing car journies is that a few rich people also take advantage of it, that is a price worth paying.
If I came from a family that has held a seat in House of Lords for 7 generations and used it to protect their vast empire from Tax and Inheritance Tax.

I probably wouldn't be complaining about free bus passes for Senior Citizens.

You'd look ridiculous.

Buckle up - because this now amounts to a direct and deliberate attack on our country and its cultural sovereignty. Which side our politicians take - Trump's or the BBC's - over the coming days and weeks will speak volumes about their patriotism.

The US president confirmed he intends to sue the broadcaster for at least $1bn over the Panorama edit of a 2021 speech.

What this article doesn't point out - because it's not news - is the fact that our Scottish Government is at no point consulted or informed about British budget planning. It finds out when we do. And then has little time to re-plan its own budget to fit.

Here's how it works...

Surprised Johnson's name hadn't come up (yet) he seemed to be involved in every other sordid scandal
Surely, if you know you are in the Epstein files, the best thing to do is to go public now, hold up your hands & confess to whatever you have done?

However bad for you, it will be better than keeping your head down and waiting until the Epstein files are released and we all know what you have done.

"We want our lands free from agribusiness, oil exploration, illegal miners and illegal loggers," said one protester.

Biggest beneficiary of donations from private health firms: Labour health secretary Wes Streeting.

This is a scandal.

Not only does evidence show that NHS prioritisation is more expensive and has worse outcomes for patients but UK voters have never given permission to privatise their NHS.
More evidence that Tory privatisation of public services, only leads to worse services for its users and workers. The owners get richer and the rest of us are left worse off. Would like to know how many Tory politicians 'invested' in these companies.

You may have missed this gem yesterday. From which we learn that:

1. Betting shops are really good for the mental health of isolated people.
2. Most drug-takers are not a problem.
3. Kids put tuppence in slot machines in the hope of getting rich.
4. Farage probably has a gambling industry donor.
