System where the free market reigns supreme but the team I hate the most spends the most money and wins a lot: Communism

System where a centralized organization sets a limit on how much any given organization can spend in any given year: Beautiful, unfettered, good ol' American capitalism

idk if this is my just my weird spartan way of living but I HATE having things. I hate shit cluttering every shelf, having to put something on every blank space on a wall. like half the stuff I have up in my own house is there to meet social expectations. I do not like owning things

They want to believe they’re rugged individualists because they don’t like the truth - they’re the most comfortable and coddled motherfuckers on the planet, so allergic to inconvenience or discomfort that it leaves them sputtering at the nearest service worker. They’re lying to us and themselves.

It is especially revealing of Miller's obliviousness that he is making a "of course you'd refuse to house the stranger" claim *the week of Christmas*, which for everything else about it is fundamentally a story of hospitality denied then recieved. All nativism and no nativity for thise ghoul.

Right now, one way of reading public opinion, you might even say a popularist understanding, is that the public is pretty unambiguously calling for a Volcker-style recession, and yet color me skeptical that an actual recession that brought prices down would be very popular.

Elias, I just read it for the first time a few weeks ago. Amazing stuff; Several sentences in there that hit me like a truck. ("This end was no deterrent, for no one who is young was ever going to get old ")

But if you spent 2021 and 2022 whining about the prices of burrito taxis instead of celebrating the best ever job market for workers in the 21st century you should know that you were helping the bosses' little scheme. Scheme worked! Trump's back and people are now desperately holding onto their jobs
