Philly's murals never fail to enchant me.
On Tuesday, I was pleased to attend the unveiling of the latest from Mural Arts, We Are What We Need. This piece by Marian Bailey is a tribute to those who have shaped the community, and continue to build the future. It serves both as a mirror and love letter to the Black, femme community of Philly.

A lot of people don't fully understand the extent to which SEPTA is Philly's school bus. Every morning and afternoon, tens of thousands of kids going to public, charter, and private schools across the city, rely on SEPTA to get them to and from school.

SEPTA cuts would be devastating to families.
Both of my sons rode SEPTA to school every day. If Republicans defund mass transit, we can add longer commutes to the list of obstacles our young people face while they try to get the education they need to thrive.

Why are we ok with our kids falling even further behind?

"Holodomor," literally, "death by hunger":

(The article linked is about the 1930s Ukrainian Holodomor, and people still argue whether it qualifies as genocide; I suspect that for the millions of Ukrainians who died in it, the distinction is without difference)

The best illustration of gaze is this video in which someone swapped the video game character skins between Batman and Catwoman. Both characters are fully clothed but the camera treats one very differently from the other.

The first redistricting proposals for TX are in.

This is what cracking and packing looks like.

This is an intensive gerrymander.

See how the districts spiral in fingers into the cities.

Lizzie Fletcher's district TX7 becomes almost entirely rural.

While it's absolutely worth celebrating their freedom from CECOT, we can't overlook the fact that more than 60 of these men had pending asylum cases.

The horror stories are already emerging from the Venezuelan deportees' time in El Salvador's notorious CECOT prison. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

A reminder that Bondi already has access to all of the Epstein files, but is pretending that she needs to go through the laborious process of unsealing grand jury testimonies. It’s all political theater to fool the rubes in her base into thinking she’s doing something. She’s just covering for Trump.

The problem is, it was never about what the "people" want or think.
per a new CBS News poll, public opinion on immigration has flipped. people now mostly think that trump’s deportation agenda is going too far

I think there may be an argument to be made that it is harder to sell books to ONLY men, because younger men read less and women no longer accept that the male POV is the default way of viewing the world. But as the kids say, this is a skill issue, for the writing and the marketing.
