Joke-but-not-a-joke answer: The Bible
Quote this with a book you read way too young that explains why you are the way you are.

I'll start: John Gardner's Grendel.

'you can generate a different ending every time you view a movie!'

'you can have endless text conversations with NPCs in games!'

'you can summarize a novel, you don't have to read it!'

the pitches for genAI really reveal how much the people behind it just... hate art.

like. *hate* art. deeply.

E assim, divididos, perdemos.

“AI” really is the end result of american consumer culture. it’s the baby pacifier of a vocal subset of people who were raised to have zero interest in learning or discovery or creativity; they just want instant gratification via a computer that spits their preferred art/music/politics back at them.
it’s not an exaggeration, these people are actually illiterate!

i think the fallout of the latter scenario has pretty much defined the right’s propaganda strategy for the past 15 years: why read & report when you can just post out of context snippets on twitter and then manufacture a juicy scandal narrative to own the libs and satisfy your audience?

I don't think internet culture was destined to be inherently right wing. But the speed and totality with which the right continues to codify almost of all of it is such a seismic cultural loss for leftist politics that you'd basically have to invent an entire new internet and start again to fix it.
