This is straight from joseph Heller‘s Catch-22. We wouldn’t have had to kill them if they just let themselves drown.

Great piece on the failure of centrist governments in the UK, France, and Germany to give voters anything to actually vote for and their fueling of the far-right by elevating its message, and the contrast that Spain offers.

Has there been an American administration that has demonstrated the message of this poem more than the Trump administration? Today, it’s the Somalis. And to think that there are still major education organizations afraid to speak out against these neofascists

Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

I really appreciate that @pbsnews.org ended the interview with this graphic.

It captures, in the simplest and starkest terms, the brutal arithmetic driving this country's homelessness catastrophe.

When a news outlet puts a reckless, undocumented claim by the Trump regime in the main headline and puts medical experts’ pushback in the smaller type, it’s making a choice. And not a good one.

Not coincidentally this is a pretty good list of Most Important Companies to Unionize.
The Boston Globe identified the companies in Massachusetts that employ the most SNAP recipients. A key stat: "In Massachusetts, 74% of working-age recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are employed, half of them full-time."

A common question about the 2025 Bears has been, is this sustainable?

My thought: Does it matter? They're 8-3 and might need to go only 2-4 to make the playoffs.

@danwiederer.bsky.social and I tackle that topic, along with Caleb Williams, the CBs and OL
Can the 8-3 Chicago Bears keep winning this way?
The Black Friday game in Philadelphia might tell us how good the Bears really are, but for now, it's hard to doubt the progress.

Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

Wife: I just found out Megyn Kelly has a teenage daughter. She has clearly seen that video of her mom from the other night. I'm sure her classmates have seen it too. I cannot believe what these people do to their children every day in the name of Donald Trump. They love him more than their own kids.

The code is not complicated. Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.

As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

Oh they don’t like the whistles? Hey everyone, they don’t like the whistles. If you use them it makes the armed goons sad.
Kristi Noem is mad that protesters are blowing whistles at ICE agents.

The more I think about it the worse it gets that not a single other member of the press objected to “quiet, piggy!”

We saw on Friday elite solidarity rather than professional solidarity when Trump called a female reporter “piggy” and not a single one of her colleagues came to her defense—presumably because they didn’t want to threaten their own proximity to power.
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.
