I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

After 10 years, one attempt after release, and spending a good chunk of my gaming time over the last five months playing it for 100ish hours, I've finally finished The Witcher 3.

Absolutely phenomenal experience from beginning to end, and high on my list of favorite games of all time.

Really not digging the Grand Prix structure in Mario Kart World. The stretch between courses just seems to be uninteresting and then you only get one lap to enjoy the actual course. It's making it so that none of the tracks are really sticking out as memorable to me so far.

It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

One of the best worldbuilding guides you can read is Tolkien's notes on translation, where he talks about the fact that *everything* you write is in practice being translated into English; is is no more anachronistic to use the word "September" than it is use the word "sword" or "house" or "hello".
Not sure how I feel when a book tells me that instead of "12 months" they have "10 arcs," which are each 40 days long, and they all have names like Blossomarc, Flamearc Snowarc,.... I appreciate the world building, but couldnt we have just kept the calendar the same?

I want to be absolutely clear: The end goal is no more nonaffirming churches.

Not a "diversity of thought" that's just rewriting purity codes. Not a "range of opinions" with a variety of ways to exclude and dehumanize and tolerate "separate but equal."
Not a bare minimum. Not an "I love you but."

For those going home to visit family this weekend:

• Samsung calls it Auto Motion Plus
• LG calls it TruMotion
• Sony calls it Motionflow
• Roku calls it Action Smoothing
• Google TV calls it Motion Enhancement
• Vizio calls it Smooth Motion Effect.

Just got out of seeing Wicked For Good. Lots of thoughts, mostly positive, but above all No Good Deed was everything I hoped for and more.

If you say things on TV like "Raping an 8yo is worse than raping a 15yo" you should be launched into a volcano

Such a criminally underrated gem, and I'm still mad about the sequel getting canned. A fun, charming adventure with a lot of heart and humor, and my Game of the Year for 2020.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

I am not fucking joking when I say the English-speaking video game world would be nothing without GameFAQs. Everyone and their mom used it (literally, my mom and all her friends). If you played video games in the 2000s you probably knew GameFAQs in the same way most people know, like, Wikipedia
Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

Not me constantly hitting B when I want to hit A and vice versa on my PC (Xbox) controller after having gotten used to Nintendo layout while playing Z-A.

Credits rolled on Z-A. The run-up to the finale was so well-done, and the game as a whole was waaay better than I thought it was going to be, drawn-on balconies and all.

Now for postgame.

Played a few hours of Z-A today, took a break to do some work stuff/chores and then played some more before dinner...and now I'm resisting the urge to go play more now that dinner's over.

Guess I'm enjoying it 🙃

Seriously considering picking up Z-A this week unless I talk myself out of it lol

In all seriousness though, I kind of want to wait until I get a Switch 2 (whenever that may be), but apparently the Switch version isn't terrible?

I've been playing The Witcher 3 a lot lately, and what's been sticking with me the most is its complex sense of morality. It's been sticking with me so much that I wrote a lengthy article on B2B about it. Please check it out and let me know what you think!

The Witcher 3’s Shades of Gray
Morality in The Witcher 3 is rarely ever black and white, and even seemingly good decisions can have unforeseen consequences.
