The bill defines social transition as name changes and pronouns, and would disallow any "conduct that facilitates" such social transition.

the timing of this capitulation by democrats is no mistake: before the Thanksgiving plane travel rush, after the important elections that just passed. democrats knew how important this election was for them so they played hardball but as SOON as they got what they wanted, they caved.

I agree. there’s three roles for people on the left that need to be working simultaneously:
1. usurping the Democratic party from within to elect leftists (DSA)
2. direct action for immediate harm reduction (food pantries)
3. building a new system that replaces the current one (mutual aid orgs etc)

these politicians don’t see themselves as influencers of public opinion through media bc they don’t see public opinion as important. they instead think of themselves as chess pieces (playing as Black), and that if they can outwit the Republicans (white) somehow they can win fair and square.
i can’t quite explain it but “standing up as opposition doesn’t work” doesn’t seem like good optics for an opposition party to have
