I read a twitter thread a long time ago of ways that cis people think about *their* gender and I thought it was really illuminating and kinda neat so here are my favorite responses 🧵

okay so every so often a cis person will share their thoughts on gender with you but it's like the dumbest shit you've ever heard and you gotta remember that they never think about this stuff so it's kinda like when a kid tries to teach you the thing they just learned about five mins ago

I wish Bluesky followed Newgrounds’ lead on how to deal with the new law (basically charging a tiny fee to a credit card you enter that’s in your name which verifies you’re over the age of 18, with some other clever workarounds if possible)
Regarding age verification, here is our current plan for UK users: 1. If your account is more than ten years old, we will assume you are currently over 18. This is in line with one of the methods of effective age assurance, which involves paying a third party to match your email address against some sort of database of scraped data, which determines if your email has been in use for a long time. We have our own long-term data, so we'll use that instead. 2. If your account ever bought Supporter status with a credit card and we can confirm that with the payment processor, we will assume you are over 18 because you need to be 18 in the UK to have a credit card. 3. If your account ever bought Supporter status more than two years ago, we will assume you are over 18 because you need to be at least 16 to have a Paypal or debit card in the UK (assuming we are right about this - Update - apparently there are options for kids as young as six to get debit cards). 4. If none of the above applies, you will have the opportunity to pay a small one-time fee via credit card as confirmation of your age. We are not planning to offer things like ID checks or facial recognition because these require us to pay a third party to confirm each person. Because Newgrounds runs at a loss and doesn't monetize users very well, this is not an option for us. As Wired noted, Big Tech is the only winner of the Online Safety Act

more like the server's code lives in /app,the server allows any ssh connection on port 2222 (port 22 is often scraped by bots), and run the commands in this screenshot in the root dir (assuming linux). I think that would make the public able to run a checksum on the /app dir and compare to the repo
I think this would work? assuming you're root create a user for yourself and a user for void useradd void useradd me groupadd -g 10000 admins usermod -aG admins me chown -R me:admins / user void and the public isn't able to see anything chmod 770 / this allows void to see but not change the files that it's running. if you want void to have all access change 575 to 775 chown -R void:admins /app chmod 575 change file perms to 644 and dir perms to 755 in /app find /app -type d -exec chmod 755 fr \; find /app -type f -exec chmod 644 f \;
