Reminder to check your booster status
Eek. There‘s been quite the spike in the wastewater surveillance. And anecdata also suggests an increase in Covid cases in the Wellington region. My neighbours have just all had it, and one of the leads in my daughter’s ballet show had to pull out because she got sick.

An important exhibition to see if you are near Ōtautahi this summer. Kā Whakatauraki: The Promises, at Christchurch Art Gallery, displays the ten deeds signed between 1844 and 1864 that saw 34.5 million acres pass out of Ngāi Tahu ownership.

Shameless self-promotion alert! I'm going to thread my 2025 in journalism, which was a difficult year (20% of my newsroom got restructured out the door), but given I was nudged to increase my story count it appears I wrote quite a lot. 1/X

"the people covered by the outreach rapid response group will take everyone who doesn't fit in there. To try and prevent them coming into Housing First's criteria"

my reading of that was maybe not their intention, so here's sōf's personal take

So a good news story. I left my wallet on a bench when out walking and had no idea it was missing. A local homeless guy found it and handed it into a lady running a cherry stall next to it. She looked through, saw a Zealandia membership card, gave them a call. They then called me and I got it back

In the 6 years of Ardern-led govt, I saw a lot of new Kīanga Ora housing built, a lot of Kīanga Ora housing refurbished, a lot of new projects begun; since 2023 I've seen nothing being done, but I've seen a lot of sites left empty, a lot of state housing abandoned and left to rot.

It's shameful.
