British "debate" on migration is in the gutter, but we should still be shocked that Labour's response yesterday was to criticise Farage for being insufficiently detailed in his plan for mass detention camps.
Regardless of whether Reform's deportation plan "works", if they get a chance to try it - like the Tories' Rwanda policy, or Trump's deportations - it will ostentatiously torment thousands of people and further engrain racism in British politics. It must be opposed on that basis.

I like to remind people that Enoch Powell got fired by his Tory PM Ted Heath in 1968 and never had a cabinet position again, and the Times called it an “evil speech”. Now we get great replacement theory in the Times and politicians including Labour advocating for ethnic cleansing on a daily basis

Genuinely baffled as to what Bertie Jenrick would have to do for any of the one in ten Tory MPs from an ethnic minority to go “steady on”. Turn up at their house in a Klan robe?

For that matter, if any Americans need tips on fleeing to live in Europe nomadically with a Palaeoplushie companion, HMU.
Just a heads up - Royal Mail is pausing US shipping after the 26th August, so if any US American wants a Palaeoplushie please order this weekend...

I'll figure out how to post stuff again in future but for now nobody knows what's going on.

Snoop Dogg, a man who guest starred on 'The L Word' multiple times back in Year of Our Lord 2004 is now pretending he's confused and appalled by lesbians.

All these celebrities and politicians suddenly hating queer people because it's in vogue with the current administration are fucking pathetic.

I wish JK Rowling a moment of true, blistering clarity of that sort that destroys her self image and sense of purpose. Also bolts of lightening, and that the HBO series crashes and burns. That's psychological, physical and financial harm I'm wishing.
Just so it’s clear, I too wish ill on JK Rowling. She has caused and continues to cause irreparable and tangible harm to fellow humans.
it appears that @bsky.app have suspended the account of @jessiegender because a trans person saying "I wish ill on JK Rowling" is against the rules, so let me say with my loud cis voice that I too wish ill on all perpetrators of hate speech against trans people

reinstate Jessie, this is ridiculous

i am super biased here because i am an academic and would like to continue to be one *but* i do feel there comes a point where you have to ask yourself what the point of ‘the economy’ is if it doesn’t support education or healthcare or the arts or housing or food or water and utilities
not an original observation but i was just explaining that the UK higher ed sector is in a bad financial position to my mum (who’s lived in austria all her life) and it is actually a very strange thing to explain that the ‘education sector’ is struggling

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

We don't all have the same number of bones or muscles. There's an average, I guess. We all kind of cluster around it. Some muscles are pretty rare. Some people just invent their own artisanal bones.
Court ordered therapy almost never works and usually makes the problem worse.

Can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them stop harming their kid/spouse, the kid/spouse won’t rebuild the lost affection, and mostly abusers just learn to be more efficient and cruel abusers.
