a very warm welcome to haolong dongi, a fascinating hadrosauroid from the early cretaceous yixian formation described by huang et al. 🎉 the near-complete holotype preserves highly unique integumentary structures unknown in other dinosaurs

If you're anywhere near the central belt of Scotland, I do have a ~34L fluval Flex aquarium that I'll be looking for a home for. The filtration as-is might be a bit high for a betta but you can "baffle" it with a sponge so it's suitable. (fluvalaquatics.com/uk/shop/prod...)

Honestly if you have the space and you're planning to have fish, I'd always go for at least ~50 litres. In my experience this is where the chemistry starts "evening out" and it becomes less of a hassle to manage the fluctuations caused by water changes and such.

Alvarezsaurs were very bird-like dinosaurs, many possessing bizarre, stubby claw hands. Despite several decades of study, we still don’t know why these dinosaurs evolved such unusual arms. My latest for Smithsonian. 🧪

I’ve got a new friend 🤩

As a kid, I had a parasaurolophus plastic toy and it became my favourite herbivore dinosaur. I am over the moon with this plushie from @palaeoplushies.com

It was so cool to exchange with the maker to decide on the colour patterns. She looks dope 😍
