There have been no good reasons for staying on Twitter for years now, but at this point you will have to follow up any of your remaining excuses with “…and I don’t care about the child pornography.”
This does seem just a little bit bad! Idk the sort of thing you’d think politicians might distance themselves from or something!

yup. @transit.app has improved my life more than a Waymo ever will.
One thing I wrote about here is how technology has made buses *way* more convenient while techno-futurists were obsessed with flying taxis and self-driving cars.

HE'S SHOWING YOU HOW TO DO IT. HE'S GIVING YOU THE BLUEPRINT!! AND HES SHOWING US WE DON'T HAVE TO ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS THAN EXACTLY THIS
Mayor Mamdani has nullified every executive order issued by Eric Adams after he struck his corrupt bargain with Trump to secure dismissal of the indictment against him.

I think Mamdani has a massively uphill battle to be an effective mayor, but unlike most people we elect here, he seems to realize that.
I think people are underestimating how much Mamdani, even more so than your average elected leftist, see it as his top priority to not be seen as a failed mayor. He is not going to be another Brandon Johnson, I’d wager

been kind of a funny thing seeing some reaction to this being "what's he talking about, republicans don't know how to speak with civility and decorum"

just - zoop - right over the head
Mamdani: For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty

So we just accept this then? This is a legitimate use of technology going forward? This vile individual's account is just prompt after prompt asking Al to alter real-life images of women. The law needs to catch up with technology now - because we can't trust these tech companies to police themselves

the way the early social web emphasized friending as many people as possible has lead to this weird state of zombie acquaintanceship where I still get a glimpse into the life of some guy who lived in my dorm freshman year purely through the notification I receive whenever he launches a game on steam

Yeah, but I also think that’s a big problem with twitter now, too. What keeps that shitshow alive more than anything is probably sports twitter combined with a few key interest groups and fandoms (finance and journos are still chief amongst them). We’re never getting 2014 twitter again.

There’s a point where the costs outweigh the benefits. The only reason the average person runs Windows is because it came preinstalled on their race-to-the-bottom Best Buy econobox.
Living with Windows has always been a calculus of how useful it is professionally vs. the amount of unbearable shit you gotta disable with a script and I think we reached a tipping point where it’s majority unbearable shit.

pro tips for those who have recently quit twitter:
download an extension that allows you to see posts / threads without logging in. like LibRedirect on Chrome / FF or Redirect Web on Safari. redirect it to xcancel or lightbrd.
if you have nextdns or similar, set a domain redirect too. its neat

i find it interesting that the anti intellectual tech critics are often the ones who rise to the surface whereas critics with phd's (often marginalized people) with authority / pioneered this tech are often sidelined, and when they point this out people get mad at them lol

another day working at the japanese artificial mouth company. everyone keeps asking me if they can fuck the artificial mouth. buddy, they wont even let me fuck it
This is an artificial mouth created by Japanese researchers. It uses artificial vocal cords, a trachea system, and a flexible silicone mouth that moves and shapes sound in real time.

It sounds so human-like!
