Theda Bara disguises herself in EAST LYNNE, one of only two of her Fox films to survive. She's not a vamp but the vamped as a woman who leaves her family in the company of a seducer.

It was a novel first but the play was where EAST LYNNE really took 19th century pop culture by storm.

700 homes, paid directly by govt (no "housing fund" required), for US military in Perth. Australian homeless can apparently just go fuck themselves while private JSPs and Centrelink torture them.
Traitorous fuckers are just insulting us now.

But the main point is that techniques later used in the movies often originated with earlier projected cinema. A magic lantern show with a skilled narrator is engrossing and they even had hand-colored slides, which would transfer over to the movies as well.

Looks like the evidence for this weird chemical abundance in an exoplanet atmosphere has gotten stronger with new JWST data: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/s...

Is it really a sign of life? That’s still not clear; lots of analysis left to do. But it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out! 🧪 🔭

Flowers in the Gaumont Chronochrome process, which was first demonstrated in 1913.

It is not color film, rather, color is achieved via projector filters. It is significant because, unlike other early color methods (including archrival Kinemacolor), is captured three colors instead of two.
