Liberals holding on to their Twitter/X accounts are a lot like American gun owners. They know the dangers of mass participation but will always find a reason why *they* should be allowed.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

“Two plus two makes four. Russia invaded Ukraine. This is as true today as it was a year ago. They will only win when they can get inside your skull and convince you otherwise.”
Ukraine represents truth. Russia represents lies. Every time we speak the truth, we support the war effort. Every time we reject lies, we help defeat the enemy.

The lies are the point
The Ukraine war has never been entirely military, or even territorial. It is epistemic.

This is what I mean by news outlets willingly letting themselves get language-policed by the far right. You used to be able to just call this a "Nazi salute." Now it's "a provocative gesture that resembled the controversial salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally last month."
Steve Bannon whipped up the CPAC crowd by talking about the possibility of Trump staying in office for a third term—and concluded his speech by giving a provocative gesture that resembled the controversial salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally last month.
Steve Bannon Mimics Elon Musk’s VERY Controversial Salute
The president himself has suggested the idea of staying in office many times since moving back into the White House.

I worked at an organization that
-helped veterans who have lost a limb
-Assisted elderly and disabled people

There’s an excellent & clear-headed discussion about the gutting of USAID and its implications in today’s “Ukraine the latest” podcast. Kudos to Anastasiia Marushevska for explaining everything so eloquently.

It's high time for our partners to officially call for new elections in Georgia for four reasons: 1/2

Paying for ‘roaming’ is a particularly British nightmare. Last week I purchased a SIM in Singapore for $10 and it’s worked all week in Thailand for free (data and calls). Same with Ukrainian SIMs …and of course all EU SIMs in Europe.

Whenever someone refers to “legacy media” I assume they’re talking about media that adheres to basic journalistic principles, checks facts and provides evidence to support any claims it makes. I.e. not the endless online bellendery of social media ‘influencers’ and conspiracy theorists.

Currently in Phuket, where 60k Russians are enjoying a beach life unhindered & unbothered by their war in Ukraine. They should enjoy it while they can. Once the war finishes they’ll have to share these beaches with the wounded, scarred & proud Ukrainians they’re been killing for the past 3 years.

In fact, Russia is accused of not only shooting down the plane but of also refusing to offer help or allow an emergency landing, turning what was presumably an accident into a crime. No wonder international airlines are now questioning whether Russian airspace is safe

Foreign election interference of the kind seen in #Romania should be treated as the most serious of crimes. It’s essential a form of warfare aimed against democratic societies.

Especially complicated (& dangerous) when it works because the ‘winners’ then take power shutdown any investigations etc

While they might not have the news yet, the fall of Assad and release of his political prisoners will give hope to the 1,000s of political prisoners held in Russia, Belarus, Iran and all the other shitty dictatorships that will eventually crumble.
