The government is living in an alternate reality. During WW2, Michael Foot and others wrote Guilty Men about the disastrous failure of the British elite’s appeasement policy: their inability to grasp the world they were living in. He’d have a field day with this lot.

The EU institutions (and the UK) seem to be focusing on Maduro's election theft, ignoring both a) the illegality of the means of his removal and b) (crucial to this argument on its own terms) the obvious point that Trump doesn't give a fuck about the election result there either.
Venezuela será libre.

People in Venezuela deserve to live free after years of oppression.

As the European Parliament has consistently affirmed, we do not consider Nicolás Maduro to be the legitimate, elected leader of Venezuela.

The UK government’s budget is simply managing decline.

The budget does little to improve living standards or facilitate sustained economic growth.

Can't grow economy by hiking taxes on low/middle income families.

Whatever happened to taxing the rich?

Abysmal, mindless, utterly zombified. You can't even call it policymaking because that implies a degree of thought which simply isn't present. Pretty soon they might actually hit Cameron's 'tens of thousands' target and then they'll shit themselves with horror at the consequences.
PM describes net migration of 205k as "a step in the right direction". His govt has no public position on a sustainable level of immigration is, nor any known process to decide what, why & how. Starmer is now implying he wants it significantly lower

Reality: No they won't save a penny. They just won't have to pay more.
