So pleased to join Neal Lawson and Mary Kaldor on last week’s @compassoffice.bsky.social podcast to discuss why Starmer got Trump so wrong, the awful trade deals he’s signed with him… and how we can start standing up to Trump and his fascist international.

'We're living through unprecedented times' seems to be the slogan of the past decade now, which is a grim reality. But, when facing the international space, it's difficult to argue. The rampant chaos ...

Trump is not simply a puppet of capitalists.

He is trying to shape capitalism into a fascist economic model, our director @nickdearden.bsky.social argues on the latest episode of COUNTER•POWER 👇🏽

Europe is a digital vassal of the US. We can claim independence, and inflict real pain on Trump’s oligarchs. But digital sovereignty needs planning and cooperation, not watering down standards and handing power to the market.

Completely agree. It was a speech which chilled me to the core. Yet because he didn’t berate Europe Vance-style, because he said ‘join with us, ditch your welfare states, build walls against the heathen and share once again the spoils of Empire’, he got an ovation.
If you had the slightest doubt as to how to interpret Rubio's speech at the MSC, you just need to see who he visits afterwards.

That Rubio received a standing ovation & gushing praise shows how ill served Europe is by its transatlantic-oriented foreign policy elite network

Today we join @foxglovelegal.bsky.social & others demanding transparency around the tech trade deals which Mandelson crafted - including the Palantir MoD deal.

An awful lot of Global Counsel clients did very well out of these deals. 1/2

Our enemy is the economic system - a “dictatorship run by the tiny minority who control capital”. The answer is a democratic economy. Or else, we get barbarism. Brilliant 👇

Britain’s food and manufacturing standards regime is “under severe pressure” as a result of Starmer’s trade pact with Trump last year, Britain’s standards chief warned MPs yesterday. That pact means ongoing talks in which the government could concede on standards at any time.

The US’ critical minerals trade bloc aims at securing US military & tech hegemony through control of critical minerals supply chains. This will hinder the green transition.

But the deal itself gives insight into Trump’s new world order 🧵

He lied and lied to get into power.
He expelled MPs who did the right thing
He pretended migrants were the source of all our problems
He watched a genocide taking place and protected the perpetrator.
He criminalised decent citizens who spoke out.
I could go on.

Starmer is not a decent man.

Trump’s critical minerals deals are pure neo-colonialism 👇
The US-DRC minerals agreement was never debated in Congo’s parliament, and the US Congress wasn’t meaningfully consulted either.

That lack of transparency matters when a deal reshapes who controls some of the world’s most important minerals and on whose terms.
