So where can the soft left and Blue Labour align?

Our new paper outlines multiple policy areas for cohesion - such as devolution, institution building, regionalised banking, public ownership, the non-university pathway, pride in work, community cohesion and immigration.

Our new publication, 'Soft Skills, Hard Labour', maps out the divisions between the soft left and Blue Labour - but also where they naturally overlap.

Delaying the mayoral elections planned for 2026 is common sense if we're serious about democracy.

Holding four new mayoral elections under FPTP when currently legislating to replace it for the rest with SV from 2027 would be ludicrous.

"It is high time the left doesn’t just preach unity and solidarity, but practises it."

Compass Director Neal Lawson on the existential crisis that a united Right poses - and what the Left can do about it - in @theguardian.com.
December 3, 2025 at 5:48 PM
At the last General Election, a united Right would have won 202 more seats.

An average 5.2% swing away from away Labour would completely change the political landscape.

We said all this in our publication, 'Thin Ice.'

The Right will unite. Progressives need to be ready.
