Can the war on coal still be won?
Ten years ago, the U.S. was on track to phase out coal by 2030, thanks to the Sierra Club. Now Trump and AI are delaying the fuel’s decline.

The EPA will approve two new pesticides containing “forever chemicals” and relax a reporting rule for companies who make products with forever chemicals.

The moves come after a $60 million lobbying blitz from the forever chemical industry.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

The US pays on average $187.48 for immigration detention per bed per day (ICE 2023 numbers). Thats more than $7 million per DAY for over 50,000 immigrants in detention.

And we can find $8 billion to feed the hungry?

$7 million doesn’t count the cost of deporting immigrants.

The Department of Agriculture says it cannot spend its $6 billion in reserves to address the $8 billion needed for SNAP in November. The administration did easily found $20 billion to prop up Javier Milei in Argentina.

A scene I would not have seen in Chicago when I lived there....I'm not comfortable with armed troops in our cities.

Let's get this up in SC (and all states). I like the name of the act: The Ratepayer Protection Act.
Thanks to MD PSC (www.psc.state.md.us), gas corporations can no longer unfairly charge existing customers big $ to add new customers--saves customers $1B in hidden fees & helps reduce the $1.3B in annual health costs due to gas burning equipment in MD.
A win for Maryland gas utility customers - Maryland Matters
Natural gas customers will save $1 billion over the next decade under a new Maryland policy that puts that cost where it belongs, writes Emily Scarr, on the utilities, which now earn $3 from existing ...

Wonder why EVs are so much mor efficient than ICE?
ICE vehicles waste a whopping 80% of the energy in their fuel.

Electric vehicles are propelled by entirely different mechanisms. Energy enters the vehicle as electricity, which directly powers the drivetrain: EVs need not convert one form of energy to another resulting in much higher efficiency.

8 in 10 Hispanics in the US are US citizens. The 9th is a permanent legal resident.

I find Latinx people are excellent neighbors: generous, kind, helpful, tax-payers, and law abiding.

Kimmel, Colbert and all the other comedians also made fun of Presidents Biden, Obama, etc. For as long as I've been watching comedy, the president and his party are always subject of jokes, some not kind. This is also true in other democratic countries where political comedy is even more popular.

Nothing about us without us.

We're at today's House Oversight Committee hearing about DC to make it clear DC communities don't want Congress's interference in our judges, prosecutions, sentencing, or police.

They can't talk about our communities without expecting to hear from our communities.
