Maybe we should let our kids go outside...could work, hasn't been tried yet.

"Kidnapping in the United States is so rare that a child would have to be outside unsupervised for, on average, 750,000 years before being snatched by a stranger."
What Kids Told Us About How to Get Them Off Their Phones
Children who were raised on screens need more freedom out in the real world.

Tribalistic people are the worst. They process the world in a more primitive, rigidly black-and-white way than my cohort, the anti-tribalists. In fact, I would go so far as to say none of them are to be trusted and we must take up arms to defend ourselves against them.

"It is, obviously, pretty goofy to turn an extremely threadbare outline of knowledge about a two-thousand-year-old Jewish activist named Jesus into a set of rigid ideological claims to absolute truth."

Facebook is mostly useless to me now, but the Buy Nothing groups are still worthwhile and an occasional source of hilarity...

I *really* wanted to reply to this, but showed some restraint for once.

I love this. I found it years ago and like to come back and reread it every so often. Perspective.

Vichada Province, Colombia, May 1998.

I was deployed there while serving in the USAF alongside Colombian AF personnel who had adopted these kittens.

After months of deployment, I was starved for physical affection, so I took great joy in being able to hold these two for a few minutes.

Love this. Worth reading.

"And yes kindness and yes hope, but god damn it, you don’t wait for those things, you make them. A job to be done still needs to be done, regardless of the measurement of your hope. You feel hopeful. Make a call. Reach out. You don’t feel hopeful. Make a call. Reach out."

Please Spare Me All Hypocritical Outrage Over Hunter Biden's Pardon.

This is a man who pardoned his co-conspirators, including some of the vile, unrepentant individuals, such as Steve Bannon, Mike Flynn, Roger Stone, and Paul Manafort.

Trump voters don’t care.
